  • Top Movie/TV Bad Guys

Sitting around doing nothing all day, I started watching Breaking Bad for the first time. This guy Tuco is a terrific bad guy. Terrific. Got me to thinking about movie/tv bad guys. No, Jack Nicholson in Departed doesn't come close and Anthony Hopkins doesn't make the list because his character has totally jumped the shark.

Orson Welles, The Third Man. Oozes class and wit and criminality.
Gary Oldman, The Professional. Hysterically funny and over the top.
    HAL9000, 2001. The emotionless assassin.
Lee J. Cobb, On the Waterfront. "You want him? You can have him!"
John Travolta & Samuel L Jackson, Pulp Fiction. Sort of bad guys.
    Michael Madsden, Reservoir Dogs. Crazy.
    Ralph Fiennes, Schindler's List
That dude that was the liquid robot in Terminator 2
Anton Chigurth, No Country for Old Men. Call it.
Jack Nicholson, The Shining. Don't know if he was technically bad.
Robert DeNiro, Cape Fear (remake). Creepy dude.
Jerry Sandusky, PSU. Wait, that was real life. I think.

I love how in the voiceover at the beginning of The Departed, Jack Nicholson talks in a thick Boston accent and then the rest of the movie he just sounds like Jack Nicholson. Why does not one ever mention that?

There are some all-timers on current/very recent shows...Walter White, Frank Underwood and Cersei Lannister are great "bad guys," even though they're not traditional.

Two of them are the star of the show/anti-hero and one is a woman. Straight evil though.

                ...but Tuco's hysterical.

I also liked Tina Turner in Mad Max Thunderdome.

David Bowie in labyrinth. That's a villain with some depth

Off the top of my head I gotta mention the Nazi dude from Inglourious Basterds was so excellent. Stole the show if you ask me.

I'll think of more. Some good teenage "bad guys" that also jump to mind...Head Val Dude from Valley Girl, of course Billy Zabka from Karate Kid.

500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.
