The explanation is that the officiating in the NFL is ruining the sport.
Calls like that are only explained by either an intentional fix on the officials part or such incompetence that the official should be fired.
That penalty could not have been more obvious and occurred at a time when it impacted the game.
This was not in the 1st quarter ... it was on the deciding drive of the game.

The illegal block on Maehl was more infuriating to me. The horsecollar has those weird rules about pulling down and where the hands are and stuff, so if one ref thinks both hands are on the back, rather than one on the collar, they might (wrongly) pick it up, as they did in this case.Originally posted by eagleinx346 View Post
