  • Better Call Saul

Think about what they're pulling off with this show... They're reverse engineering a major hit series, with only the supporting characters, and they're making something that's more real, more human, and straight-up better than the show that inspired it.

Absolutely the best, smartest television ever done.

I'll admit I am not familiar with Just Call Saul.

But to me this seems like a potential offshoot of the Grand Theft Auto games.

Like if they had a GTA lawyer sidegame.

In any case, to to quote the great Paul Weller "That's Entertainment".

Fantastic. The best scenes are the scenes with the grumpy parkinglot attendant.
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

It's so good that, although I want to find out exactly how Jimmy becomes Saul, I don't want it to end.

It's good but to say it's better than Breaking Bad is asinine.

had a better start than Breaking Bad. I don't see them going as many seasons with BCS, so I think they were looking for a strong start.

Last week's episode was very good. My man Hewell!

Last two weeks were as good as all but the final episode of BB. Mikes trick with the sneakers over the power lines was epic.

This past show was pretty special. It'd be a top 5 episode of Breaking Bad.

And I'm not disparaging Breaking Bad in the least... it's kind of like saying you prefer The Godfather II to The Godfather. The two shows are essentially one (same talent, same universe, same characters), and they're as good as any television has ever been.

For me, the deciding factor is likability. I like Jimmy and Kim better than I like Walt and Skyler. And BCS is more focused on Mike, who is, hands down, the best character on television.

It's running out of time now, and it a bums me out. In the scenes with Mike and Gus, it's easy to forget which show you're watching.

There was one scene in particular (when they meet on the highway out in the desert) where I actually did forget which show it was.

They're almost all the way back into the Breaking Bad universe now. I think the next season is going to have to be the last.

and think he went out poorly in BB. I think Gilligan had so much unfinished business with the character, he has put Mike on the same level as Jimmy in BCS.

What impresses me about both shows is that you genuinely like most of the characters. Who ever thought you'd light up to see a murderous drug cartel king pin? Probably the only two characters I never liked were Hector and Skyler.
