Never got to see Floyd live

But I've seen some damn good Floyd tribute bands. And I'm not much of a tribute band guy, but I caught The Machine at the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh a few times, and the Australian Pink Floyd at DPAC. Saw Roger in Greensboro last month. Show was un-fuggin-believable. Still bumming that Rick checked out back in 08. There could never be a Floyd reunion without Rick.

I heard the Guys from Australia are incredible.

it was like a traveling stage show more than a concert at times, they had a live sound that was unmatched even at a place like JFK. Saw them once at MSG and it was incredible,,the sound, from all directions.

and the bands all knew it. My Gf at the time after the 1 set on the rail decided she wanted to sit in the stands for the second half of the show, Front row for Echos,,,still all in all they just blew the Place away,,,Gilmour giving the lighting guy some shit,,I do remember that.

          ok One more!

I don't do a lot of concerts, but Pink Floyd at the Orange Bowl in 1987 was hands down the most spectacular show I've ever seen. Monsoon conditions for the entire 3+ hours, everyone drenched to the bone... absolutely awesome.

Conversely, I've seen Roger live at MSG in 2000 and it felt like he needed a thousand people to fill the void of not having Gilmour up there. It was only memorable for how un-memorable it was. Too bad he was too stubborn to realize that he needed the band a hell of a lot more than the band needed him.

My first stadium concert was Pink Floyd at Milwaukee County Stadium in June of '77

When they blew up the Pig, it rattled windows for miles and freaked out the locals. We bought "grass passes" that let you onto the field, but my Mom was worried that it meant it was ok to smoke weed in the stadium...

                    Yeah you guys are lucky

I was too young in 77,,was at english Town when Marshall tucker opened for the dead but didn't get in,,saw floyd 3 years later at Nassau Coliseum but it was just that whole double album thing they were doing

I think The Animals tour was their Best

Australian Floyd show was one to remember. Choice edibles before the show and Sam Adams Russian Imperial Stouts. Entire second set was Dark Side of the Moon. They tore the roof off the place. Good times.

All in all not a bad show.

However, seeing that show at JFK was one I will never forget. "I think it was "Debella" at one point asking the crowd to move back due to folks getting crushed up front and saying 120,000 fans and one asshole that would not back up." That was an incredible tour saw the later shows at the Vet as well.

I usually see Several Species at Pier Six in Baltimore in September.
