    Chumpo Alonzo with a dirty hit on Joe Flacco?

    I did not see it but the Tweeter is lighting up about it right now.

        I was watching that crappy game (Miami's O is dreadful) and without a doubt it was a dirty cheapshot hit. He was arguing his case with the Ravens sideline(who were obviously pissed) but I don't know how he ever thought it was a clean legit hit.

        Flacco looked like he had been hit by Mike Tyson in his prime as his eyes were glazed over and he had this blank look on his face.

          Definitely rung Flacco's bell

          QB sliding on the ground, linebacker comes in and delivers a hit so hard it knocks his helmet off. How he didn't get tossed is beyond me. Officiating blows dogs for quarters this year. But we're the ones without a fundamental knowledge of football.

            Give me a break ... look at the play real time, not slow mo.

            Flacco went down into that slide late because he was trying to get to the stick for a first down ... Alonzo MAYBE ... MAYBE had a split second to try to back off ... but he was in the middle of a fucking tackle.

            However, they'll go fine and suspension mode because he got his bell rung and he's a qb.

              You make the call. I hate the pussy "protect the QB" rules as much as anyone but it's hard to plead Alonso's case when he clearly lead with his forearm.

                500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

                  Baloney ... he's leading with his shoulder ... I've seen a million guys trying to hit a guy in the thigh like that ... you cannot say at real speed that Alonzo was trying to hit him in the head.

                    And QBs use this as a way to get an extra 15 yard roughing penalty. Fucking Cam does this all the time and then wonders why he doesn't always get the flag on, (admittedly) much more egregious plays.

                    I was watching NFLN's morning show and Nate Burleson brought up the point that it should be flagged under the rules but if Alonso doesn't make that hit, or pulls up, he'll get some heat during film review about why he pulled up.

                    The problem is, the rule is imprecise and sliding leaves the QB in a much more vulnerable position.

                      Same hit as the Rodgerst/Barr hit....3 yds apart when the ball was released (Rodgers) and when Flacco slid. EXCEPT Flacco is moving forward at full speed....no way to pull up by Alonso...Alonso lead with his shoulder, while Flacco's head was pulled lower.

                      The need to eliminate the slide, so a QB protects themselves. Cause in a split second, a defender can't make the decision to pull up....

                        When two guys going full speed collide in the open field, it usually looks bad. I'm okay with Kiko getting a penalty on the play, but Boomer's reaction really sets the narrative there. It's wasn't all that dirty. Flacco slid late going for the first, it's Kiko's job to knock his block off.
