it sounds weird, but i don't think he's even making top-16 money. the other half of the league (aside from brady) starts journeymen and rookies/guys under rookie contracts at QB.

they're better off with bortles than henne and any draft pick won't be ready to start. i get it.

I think Cousins > BB, but maybe they feel they were only 1-2 plays away from the SB. Add a nice draft pick and a couple FA, maybe they’ll meet US there

agreed that cousins > BB (by a lot). but whoever gets cousins is going to grossly overpay. even by paying bortles this much i think the jags get to keep their good players.

Wow they just wasted a great defense by giving him the money and having no offense.

And while Bortles might be worse, the difference between Cousins and elite QBs is also a lot, while the salary difference between those QBs and him will be much smaller than the difference between Bortles and Cousins. So, I think the Bortles move means your team is just a lot better.

The only way to keep the band together is to keep a guy like Bortles.

cousins is an interesting case to me. he always posts good numbers, but his record always floats around .500. even in the MNF game this season, he was 30-40 for 300 yards and 3 TDs. hardly his fault that the skins lost.

i'd say he has potential to be a top-10 QB, but of course teams gamble that a QB will be the guy to win them a lombardi every year. the skins also made the right decision not to make him the highest-paid player in the league.

and Cousins always seems to fall in the 15-17 range when you ask "who would you rather have Cousins or X?"

I don't think he magically gets into the top 10 if you pair him with the Broncos, Jets, Browns.

He may sneak in to the top 10 if paired with the current Vikings offensive and defensive personnel.

                    Does that make sense?

This is probably true but he’s gonna be a top 5 paid QB in another few weeks.

makes perfect sense. i was being generous when i said he had top-10 potential, but it could happen in the scenario that you laid out. so i agree.

He took a team to the conference championship and looked good against NE...why not?
