  • Any Eagle who was injured for the SB should sit the home opener.

    Jason Peters to the bench.
    Jordan Hicks to the bench.
    Darren Sproles to the bench.
    Chris Maragos to the bench.
    Carson Wentz to the bench.

They don't deserve to play. Slackers.

Shocking that the Patriots allowed the undeserving Gronkowski to play the home opener in 2017.

Big V didn't win Super Bowl MVP
Mychal Kendricks didn't win Super Bowl MVP
Corey Clement didn't win Super Bowl MVP
Bryan Braman didn't win Super Bowl MVP

Nick Foles...hmmm yes, he won Super Bowl MVP

Foles has had plenty of accolades. Including MVP.

This is really one of the stupidest ideas ever. I'm sure Foles would be the first to tell you that. If Wentz is healthy, he's the starter. Not even a question about it.

You want to fkkk up the team, start screwing around like that.

eh, you're analogy just isn't really apt. But, I don't think anyone is seriously advocating for Foles to actually play the entire opener (if Wentz is healthy)...right?

I'd say you put him out there for first snap so he's introduced as starter, but I really seriously doubt he wants that or cares about it.

It's a dumb, dumb idea - unless you think Foles is better than Wentz. The best healthy player starts.

I could imagine some unique situation where you give a long-time veteran a meaningless ceremonial start but this isn't it.

I agree with this. You announce Foles as starter.

If Wentz is truly ready to go you play him for the bulk of the game. I just have a feeling that Wentz will not be 100 percent ready to go on Sept 6.

Nick Foles won the only Super Bowl (and Championship for that matter) that the Eagles have won in my lifetime.

Let him start the game if he is still on the team. It's not like he is an incompetent player. He is a Super Bowl Champion.

There are 16 regular season games in the NFL. The Eagles opener will mostly likely be against one of their top competitors for the #1 overall seed in the playoffs. I love Nick Foles but Pederson should start the QB that gives them the best chance to win.

This nostalgia is great but if Foles comes in just as a feel good story and throws a pick are the fans going to shrug it off?

It's no longer the 2017 season. The Eagles won. It's time to move on to 2018 and trying to win again.

                  Well consider this.

I don't believe Wentz will be at 100 percent on Sept 6.

I think Foles gives you a greater chance of winning that opener.

This whole conversation is absolutely Moot

Until the end of Camp. No one knows where the Kid is in his recovery, except him and the trainers.

Yeah, Foles was sort of f*ed up during TC last summer.

You've got a lot of nerve trying to downplay all of this posturing.

I really don't know how you announce the team for the opener.

I don't agree with the Chump Kelly approach of having them all run out at once.

But if you announce the offense only, how can you leave out Brandon Graham?

I say f@ck it! Announce them all. It's our celebration and our pre game show.

Ok Doc. Or is it Nostradamus?

Like I said, if Wentz gives them the best chance to win he should be the starter. If not, it'll be someone else.

The idea that Foles should start for any nostalgic reason and not based on health or ability is ridiculous.

I'm not a Doctor but I guarantee I've seen a lot more ACLs (with Doctors) through scopes than you have.

You can make all the smart ass comments you want to make. You are well known on the board for those.

I don't know about Carson Wentz's specifics but I do know in general it takes a full year or more for a player to fully recover and rehab from an ACL repair. Also note that Wentz needed his LCL repaired as well. Maybe he is Superman but my experience tells me people take a certain amount of time to heal.
