hard to believe that.
i bet mcnabb coulda done that too. he would have been incredibly calm, accurate, and proficient down 10-0 in the super bowl vs peyton manning. errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, we woulda lost 56-3 |

We wouldn't have run a single running play once we were down 10-0.

Oh because the QB calls the plays when he is down 10 points right??
Could have sworn that was always FF panicking, but thanks for clarifying!! Learning so much from you guys today!!

DING DING DING!!!
Good job McCarthy, the 2nd quarter is what won it for the Saints, good play calling and Payton keeping his cool... McNabb is not Brees, never said he was, but Payton is much > than FF... There in lies the problem

Brees also hit 80% of his passes. It was combination of the two. I would say, in last night's scenario, the combo of Brees and Andy gets the win before the combo of Payton and McNabb. Just my opinion. Brees could bail out Andy by making throws. Payton couldn't bail out McNabb.

Only on this board can you put up a hypothetical Eagles loss by a 56-3 score and somehow place the bulk of the blame on the QB.

drew brees would be dead if he played behind this shit-ass offensive line.
they suck my asshole. and reid would probably do something cute like have brees hand off to vick, to hand off to djax, to throw a backwards pass back to brees, to throw a screen to mccoy that goes for negative 5 yards. |

I don't agree with that, Payton still called running plays, it wasn't overly affective but they still ran it to keep Manning off the field...
That 2nd quarter reminded me of what the Dolphins were trying to do to the Colts this year, just keep Manning at bay. Brees had a great game, and 80% is crazy, but Payton also let his QB keeps his cool; he didn't set him up in Shotgun every play after being down 10 points. But I know it is easier for people here to blame one position... And btw, I hate that arrogant prick Sean Payton, but he did a hell of a job yesterday!!

you cannot underestimate the chain reaction effect. the entire team would flat out quit after another 3 and out by Sex Panther and the offense. the D would quit playing bc they'd know there was no shot in hell the franchise QB possesses the stones to rally his team on a big stage like that.
I still cannot believe he led them back vs Zona last year. That was mcnabb's Frank the Tank vs James Carvell moment. |

That's fair. Payton didn't spaz and call 50 staight pass plays once they were down. Maybe nobody can bail Andy out...

So it is on McNabb when the defenses know that the pass is coming what like 95% of the time when the Eagles are down?
I mean you can blame McNabb for all these things : head on his shoulders, handle pressure, stay calm but then shouldn't his coach call a better game plan than pass pass pass? If you were coaching would you keep at it if the defense sniffed it out everytime?

By no means am I saying McNabb is = Brees or Manning, but Payton did what he needed to do to win the game, put his players in good positions and it worked out.
And the onside kick was ballsy as hell to, what better way to take the MO back... I hate singing the praises of that smug prick, really I do...

teams know the saints are going to pass and the colts are going to pass but the saints and colts still complete their passes.
look, i'm not trying to shit on mcnabb because i do like mcnabb a bunch...one of my all-time favorite players...but he does not fit this system at all. i am annoyed with his accuracy being not all that great and the fact that he kind of sh!ts the bed when it comes to crunch time. with ALL of that being said now...i think he is playing in the wrong offense. if he isn't that accurate...why pass that much? just doesn't make any sense. and with ALL of this being said...the eagles defense still blows. |

don't you get it? the colts keep the defense honest and keep them guessing by running LESS than the eagles. the defense expects them to run 40% of the time, by throwing more the defense doesn't know what's coming. brilliant

Breezy was 3 of 7 when the score was 10 to 0.
He then went on a 29 completions of 32 fucking attempts. One of those misses was the kneel down. Fucking crazy.
