Definitely was ALL about the contract. What does a 7th normally get you? A practice squad player? Crazy.

I don't know... they better do something productive with that cap space, otherwise I really don't see the point. I mean, the Falcons 'restructured' his contract to a 3 yr /18 mill deal.. which is a lot easier to swallow than what he was set to make. Why not just do that and keep him? I'm not sold DRC is going to be the answer.

with this team, i seriously doubt they'll get anyone worth anything with the 7th round pick.

I'm on the fence as to whether it was a good idea to trade him in the first place and I totally get that we were only going to get what another team was willing to offer - but a 7th??? Unless that 7th ends up being an indispensable part of a trade that allows them to move up and get someone really good then you might as well have just cut our pro bowl corner. Just seems nuts to me.

i would rather cut him outright than give him to a team you may face in the playoffs for a 7th rounder.
not that the dream team is a lock for the postseason, mind you... Last edited by Ellsworth; 04-25-2012 at 05:08 PM. |

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking. Where would he have signed as a free agent? I guess you can't control that, but I'd rather cut him than give him to Atlanta. It just seems stupid.

The more I think about this, the more absurd it seems. If you cut him, he might sign with another NFC contender. Instead we gave him to an NFC contender (that we play this year). Dumb a$$ dream team.

A 7th rounder is perfect. They can pick up Kolb Jr, Case Keenum. Sweet.

I could see Asante picking off the Dog Killer for a pick 6 easily

He restructured with Atlanta for about $6 mill per season for three years.
That sounds like a very fair price so I'm wondering if he would have agreed to restructure for the same amount with the Eagles. I also find it hard to believe that if Asante was willing to practically cut his salary in half a seventh round selection was the best the Eagles could get. The more I see from this clown Roseman the more I envision a string of 5-11 seasons for this team in the not-so-distant future. In fact, they might not even have the luxury of firing Reid after this season. If he has any sense about him at all he's already seen the writing on the wall and his December 31st flight to the left coast is already booked.
