Just a quick note re: new registrations and spam.

Recently, for some reason we seem to be getting hit with a lot of spam bots.

So, in an attempt to mitigate this somewhat, we've added a new field to everyone's profile which must be correct in order to proceed with a new registration or to update your profile.

Basically, you have to fill in the field with the answer to a very simple question in order to proceed. Everyone here should know the answer. Hopefully this should slow down the bots a bit, especially since they seem to be coming from overseas. They might eventually look up the answer on google and program it in, but if they do we will change the simple question.

So if you have had difficulty registering in the last week or so, this is the reason why. We've been deleting new registrations if there was any question about them possibly being a spammer. Please try again and email us if there are any problems.

Also, if you ever recieve a PM which you think is suspicious, please send a email to forum administration using the contact link at the bottom of the page so we can deal with it. We can't see spam PMs the same way we can see obvious spam threads on the board so any heads up is appreciated.

If you've got the time also send a PM to an admin so all bases are covered. Sometimes emails get through to the admins faster than PMs and sometimes vice versa.
