  • Eagles get a 2015 4th round pick for Bryce Brown

I thought Howie sucked at this GMing trading shit. Turned a 7th round back-up RB they didn't miss and would have likely cut anyway into a 4th rounder. If Kelly wasn't so much of a stupid asshole, Roseman could have likely gotten something, anything, for DeSean.

it was nice to see him finally replace the 4th round pick he threw in when he deal chris clemons for darryl tapp. unfortunately, unlike jacksons production, which was surpassed by maclin, some things are irreplaceable, like the 22 sacks clemons registered the two seasons after howie gave him away.

      Ridiculously impolite.

No one was going to give up a draft pick for Jackson because of his 1)contract and 2)being a head case. Why do you think a WR AND speed deficient team like KC stayed away from him? Why do you think the Skins gave him LESS in a new contract that what he would have made in Philly? They might have missed his speed this year, but they didn't miss him being a yearly distraction.

10.5 million is now greater than 16 million? Huh, you learn something new every day.

Had Jackson stayed with the Eagles, he would have been paid 30.5 million total for 2014, 2015 and 2016.

The contract he signed with the Redskins pays him 24 millions in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

The Redskins contract netted him 16 million in guaranteed money whereas the Eagles contract was in base salary and non-guaranteed bonuses (as far as I can tell).

                http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-...ulti-year-deal

So, the Redskins are paying him less overall for 2014-2016, but he benefits from guaranteed money that comes with a new contract.

When Jackson talked about wanting a new deal last January, one would assume it was for more than the Eagles were paying him.

                Edit to add:

If the Redskins traded for him, they'd only have had to pay one year at 10.5 million in 2014 then cut/trade him if they wished. The question is: were teams willing to take on that salary (that he wanted to renegotiated) and give up a draft pick for it. You can speculate either way on that.

It's more than that: Every nickle on the contract the Eagles had remaining counted against the cap for each year (appx 10 million per year) ... it was all backload in the last 3 of a 5 year deal.

Which brings us to the original concept that Howie is such a fucking genius ... well, what genius would backload a 5-year contract in the last 3 years like that?

EDITED TO ADD: Unless he only wanted it to be a 2-year deal and didn't care if the contract was untradeable thereafter ... which means Howie was as disinterested in keeping Jackson as Kelly is accused of being.

That or, he (and Jackson) wanted flexibility to re-negotiate based on performance given that prior to the contract there were questions regarding his value/interest/etc.

Desean was a problem child for sure. I just think there was a better way to handle it whereby they control where that player goes. Its a little bit of a mistake to not be able to get a pittance for him and ship him out of division.

Ive said it before: that desean isnt on the eagles is on kelly. That desean is playing forthe redskins is on roseman.

Not sure but don't think Maclin quite matched DJax 2013 yards. Very close I think. Hard to judge a players total impact.

Jackson had 14 more yards in 13 Maclin had 1 more td in 14. I think Maclin at least matched Jackson based on those numbers.

But Maclin not having deseans speed became an issue with the overall offense
