Well, they did need corners.

I'm sure I'm overlooking something regarding the timelines but why not make that Darby trade earlier and avoid having to handcuff yourself in the draft? I can't put my finger on it but it's odd they draft a corner who won't play this year, draft another corner in the third, and then have to make a trade that eventually costs them Matthews and a third. Why not make the Matthews trade first and give yourself the flexibility in the draft? Now, that's assuming Buffalo was interested in moving players back then. Who knows? I knew this team's three biggest needs were defensive end, cornerback, and running back. I even think Howie knew it. He just didn't know how to execute (again).

But a guy with an achilles issue (even a projected top 10 pick) over moving up for Cook?

I'm leaning with Cook myself.

Howie fucked up by not getting Cook. He was perfect for Dougs offense, that one will haunt us for years.
