My understanding is his endorsement deals dwarf his playing salary, so money isn't (or shouldn't) be an issue for him. Keeping his image marketable, is.

Kobe fucked that part of it up with that sexual assault accusation some years ago. There seemed to be fire to that smoke. Even if he got off scot free from a legal point of view, it really hurt his marketability.

James could play anywhere and still be marketable. Even Cleveland. There might actually be too much pressure playing for the sixers. Like Cleveland, Philly is pretty much a championship wasteland in all sports. The fan base is more anxious for a winner than in most places. That could hurt James a lot if he doesn't deliver a championship here.

It would be nice if he came to Philly, though. Not optimistic.
