      Turns out they didn't have another option because they didn't want to pitch Bastardo or DeFratus and Adams was hurt.

      They were saving Papelbon for a lead and Savery for extra innings.

        I didn't see the game, but why did Stutes only pitch to 2 batters? He's usually good for 2 innings, and a much better option than Horst.

          Horstshit came in to get a lefty and got them out of the 8th with a guy in scoring position, but then they were stuck with him or another lefty (Savery) for the rest of the game, unless they got a lead and brought in Papelbon.
