  • I'm not impressed with Chip Kelly to date

Playbook looks very very small and all gimmick (where are the RB screens? Is it possible to run the ball without it being a draw or trap?)

No adjustments. (Most coaches would have motioned Desean practically every down try to get him a favorable matchup. Have you heard of max protect?)

All you have to do is fake an injury to throw the offense out of rhythm.

Going for 2 at the beginning of a game and missing could have lost of us the game

    Terrible clock mgmt.

The team has regressed since week 1.

Not to mention, on 2d and 3 from inside the 15, he went Reid with two (incomplete) passes.

Agreed on all points but I also think some of the regression last night was exacerbated by the Thursday night game.

Also, Kelly better find the right guy to delegate the defense to because that doesn't seem to be his interest or forte.

It's not about the coach, it's about the roster.

3 games in 11 days will hurt ya. And doesnt allow for much installation of new offense.

Chiefs had a short week too. Last week, the Chargers had a short week too...exacerbated by flying across the country to boot.

Both teams in each week had even worse short week conditions than the birds. I'll keep saying it -- It's not the coaching, it's the roster.

Last week Billy Davis threw everything he could at the Chargers. They couldn't beat King Dunlap!!!! Davis is actually impressing me getting as much as he is from that defense with those pathetic players.

How long will the NFL be his interest when he can make almost as much money in college with only a fraction of the work and aggravation?

The short week had to hurt.

We're not talking about the CheFFs or the Chargers. We're talking about Chip Kelly.

                  Save your breath.

This guy thinks Davis has nothing to do with a defense that gave up 550 yards to a team that scored on every possession it had except for one punt and two fumbles in the fucking red zone.

And then had another team beat him with the exact same underneath shit, to the same fucking player over and over, on 3d down.

                    Feel same way right now.

This feeling of despair, helplessness, anger, that we all have to deal with year after year gets old as shit.

Kelly is learning he is not the "Smartest" man

in the room. The NFL is full of very driven smart innovators... As far as impressing me, has not happened yet. All this season has shown me is Washington is just as bad as we are. Kelly is going to be humbled this year and has to understand there are no cupcake games on the schedule. We have to play with the groceries we have this year and we are going to have more losses than wins but I need to see smart, fast play. Players who continue to fail at tackling, take bad angles and play out of position need to be replaced.

Agreed with all plus the more I watch it....I don't see how it's going to be possible to keep the QB healthy for 16 games + playoffs regardless of who's in there.

The success in Week 1 drove expectations through the roof. I'm not happy about last night but I'm more ok with it than loss than the San Diego one.

Regardless, both losses are to AFC opponents and have come during a rough stretch.

I want to see improvement over the course of the season - and even if there is improvement it means that the team will regresses here and there. When we get to week 16 and the team is making the same mistakes I'll start to get concerned.

                              He's gonna be alright.

I think he's smart enough to learn from his mistakes. The biggest problem he's had so far has been game and clock management, stuff he didn't really need to concern himself with when rolling up 700 yards of offense on Backwater U.

I can quibble with some play-calling here and there (although it's not totally clear to me how many of those are a result of Vick's reads at the snap rather than strictly how Kelly called the play). That 2-point conversion try was garbage, though.

If the defense stops anybody at all in the Chargers game, they win. If the offense doesn't give up 3 terrible turnovers (muffed punt, terrible pick-six, botched snap), they probably beat KC (and that's even with the defense giving up a bunch of ridiculous 3rd and longs, like the late-game one that was the real back-breaker).

The defense is a wreck and will be until at least next season. The offense is in good shape...they're talented enough as a whole to score plenty of points, the issue they'll run into is having to deal with all the wrinkles defenses will try. None of that stuff will be new to Kelly -- he's probably seen and adjusted to most of those looks and techniques at the college level -- but the players haven't necessarily seen and reacted to them on the field.

I have to figure their QB of the future is currently playing at either Oregon, Texas A&M, Clemson or UCLA right now. I don't think they'll be bad enough to have a shot at Bridgewater.
