That the much heralded much improved defense nearly gave the second Washington game away in the same way it nearly gave away the first Washington game?

Nope. This still isn't a team to bank on for a Lombardi, but its an interesting season to watch.

it also wouldn't be impolite to point out that also in both games Kelly decided the game was over in the middle of the third quarter.

Sorry, I can't hate on holding a good offense to 16 points.

I blame Chip for taking foot off the pedal and...

the secondary for letting them convert a 3rd and 25. How many times are they going to let that happen. I get the bend but don't break theory but that game should not have come down to that

              The Five Inch Defense
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

It also wouldn't be impolite to point out that those 16 points were thanks to the kind of QB that RG3 is--when it was Randall or McNabb back there making the same kind of plays FOR the Eagles, we all no doubt praised them. But because his mobility allowed both defensive coverages to break down, those plays were made--although I think Carmichael, if he hadn't overran the 2nd, which was terribly overthrown could have intercepted it. The Birds also had a knack for stupid penalties on 3rd down--holding, which wiped out a 3rd down and made it 1st down; offsides a couple of times. So this defense has a way to go, but they have made more progress in 11 games than I think we could have hoped to see. I remember Anthony asking--"Who's going to cover Dez Bryant?"--well, Bryant was held down and even a competent perfomance by the QB and offense would have given the Eagles a win in that game.

How much does and almost losing the game count in the loss column compared to almost winning the game in the win column?

that they scored in seven minutes. And converted various 3d and longs, including a 3d and 25.

                      Just saying.

Luckily, 7 minute games don't exist in the NFL.

                          Airlines evaluate risk

based on small incident frequency. So, if an airline has a lot of baggage handlers who run over someone's foot or mechanics who fall off ladders, that doesn't mean a plane has crashed --- but they do mean it is predictive of a larger accident later.

Such as a plane crash. Or in this case, a season crash.

Have you been watching the NFL this year?

Week 11: 7 games were decided by 8 points or less.
                            Week 10: 9 games.
                            Week 9: 10 games.
                            Week 8: 5 games.
                            Week 7: 8 games.
                            Week 6: 6 games.
                            etc.

It's a pretty common occurrence for games to be close in the end in the NFL with teams fighting it out or coming back when down. The Eagles just showed that they could hold off a team. No one thinks they're the 2000 Ravens, but holding off a rally from another team is far better than succumbing to it or having to try to rally themselves.

I didn't like seeing those 2 TDs, but they do get paid too. Scrambling QB's can do that to a defense, especially a defense that's on the field a lot and missing 3 starters.

The execution in the 4th quarter was pretty bad across the board, with the exception of special teams.
