    *SPOILER ALERT*

The girl will be charged with filing a false police report, based off phone records.

    Nothing to see here.

            It just doesn't sound like

They have enough of a case to prove sexual assault. If this had happened two weeks ago, maybe, but over a year ? I think that if they had a strong case, they would have charged him already. what prosecutor wouldn't want to have the "I nailed Jameis Winston" feather in their cap ?

If they were going to prosecute the guy, they wouldn't make an announcement that they're going to make an announcement. He'd be picked up already. You don't leave a suspect in a violent crime hang out for a few hours just so you can get ratings, and if you do, then you shouldn't be doing your job.

I think you are being a little naive. Let me rephrase your question: what Florida prosecutor would want to have the "I nailed the quarterback of the number one FSU team and cost the Seminoles the national championship" feather in his or her cap?

Fair point. I guess it could go either way.

Maybe the question should be "Am I the kind of prosecutor that wants people to know that I'll do what's necessary to get justice, regardless of who it is, or am I more concerned about public backlash because this guy is the QB at FSU ?"

That would be his last term as State Attorney of that circuit. Guaranteed.

Many people care much more about football than some unknown coed getting sexually assaulted or any other victim of a crime committed by a football player.

Football games AFFECT THEIR LIVES!!!! Look at the douchebags tweeting to the Alabama kicker.

What does some girl or other victim mean to football fans? Not a BCS championship, that's for sure.

And that's why he's not getting prosecuted. Maybe he's innocent. Maybe he did it. The presumption of innocence + the fact that the incident happened almost a year ago means he won't get prosecuted whether he did it or not.

Unless there is video evidence of the incident, it's a "She said, they said." The girl is the only one saying it was rape. Her word against theirs, regardless of whether or not they're lying and have just circled the wagons. Recipe for an easy decline to prosecute decision.

If they have evidence that he sexually assaulted her, then I say prosecute to the fullest extent of the law, but this kid just doesn't seem like the type who would do that. I'm sure that sounds very naive, but when I see and hear this kid, I just don't sense that.

I hope so. I won't be able to stand giving the Ohio State Suckeyes a chance to win the national championship.
