  • De'Anthony Thomas

One of Chip's former guys declaring early for the draft. Apparently, he and DeSean are boys too.

He's going to need to be a WR in the NFL, but his real value is going to be as a KR/PR. I'd take him on the Eagles as the 4th WR (Djacc, Cooper/Maclin, Cooper/Maclin/another guy) and return specialist in a heartbeat.

It would be nice to have a kick returner that teams feared would get past the 20 and a punt returner that isn't our star WR risking injury.

Strategically this makes sense. Brian Mitchell was so valuable to the Eagles when he played here.

Look no further than last night. Colt Anderson broke contain and Sproles busted it for a big return, compounded by Sconces needing to horse collar him before he was in space vs. the kicker. It set up the W.

Brad Smiff or Damaris Johnson would have run right into the coverage as opposed to busting it outside for the big play.

Edit: Plus, he played RB mostly for the Ducks, so I'm sure Chip would find some great uses for him all over the field on O.

This is probably stupid, what is going on with Benn? I had hopes.

Also, where is thomas projected to go? I think they need to go heavy on d. The way I see it, they need safetieS first and foremost. Byrd almost seems like a forgone conclusion. After that, they need a pass rush guy, bad. Cb depth if fletcher and williams are what they are sticking with (carmichael should never see a field).

Honestly, DAT is one of those players that is going to be hard to predict where he goes. Like I said, his main value is in the return game, so some teams may not see that as worthy of a higher pick, but the right offensive minded coach, could see that value and the mismatches you could potentially get with him.

          I think he's anywhere from 3-5.

He reminds me of sproles. If they get him in the third or later, it seems like a steal

This kid makes DJAX look slow.
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

Add this to Shady and DeSean?

                Yes please.

The move at 1:47 is one of the nastiest I've seen. What he does to the kid at 3:19 just isn't right.

When Oregon would be on the verge of losing, he would mentally shutdown. He would go to the bench and make up an excuse not to get back on the field. He has a lot of maturing to do. If he is on the board in rounds 3-4, and the Iggs already addressed the need for a safety, you have to pull the trigger.

3:20 is nasty. I'd love for them to get him, I just don't want them to reach.

he may end up being a first round pick.

if he is as fast as i think he is...that speed and skill will push him into the first round.

he would be nice...but they have other things to worry about. pass rush, safety and depth for special teams because their special teams blow.

He's shown the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, but he's not a true WR at this point in his career. Tavon Austin was a WR when the Rams took him in the first. DAT is going to have to learn the position in the NFL. That's going to scare some teams away from using their 1st.

Agreed, and I hope they follow that model 99% of the time, but for a return specialist, especially one with speed and return skills as this one, I'm ok with another midget.

                              That's a good comparison.

I mean, hey, DAT could go in round 1 if some team really loves him, or he could go in round 5 if teams think he's too small and/or immature.

I think, anything 3 or later, if he's there when the Birds pick, and they've addressed D with the first two picks, he's a must have.

We all agree that we need to upgrade special teams, mainly coverage, but the upgrade DAT would provide in the actual return game would be worth the pick itself.
