Yes, you did praise them ... you compared them to the Eagles as having done better, so I just wanted to make sure the full picture of their FO's aptitude was out there.

But, ok ... let's just focus on the trade of their massive fuckup.

The Jets gave a pick for a player who they get games from this season ... the Eagles did not have that to offer ... all they had to offer was a shitty contract.

The worst part of Harvin's contract is what comes after this season, which the Jets can cut loose if they can't renegotiate.

Who the fuck is going to trade only for that?

Which is why the only strawman here is you comparing what Jackson got per game on his contract to Harvin.

Anybody trading for Jackson in the offseason wasn't paying for 9 games prorated.

There are a number of motivations that could be attributed to the Jets.

They want to see what Ryan can do with a legit speed receiver.

They want to see what Geno Smith can do with him.

They want to make a positive move for PR.

Or, they may be stupid ... but their stupidity in a completely different set of circumstances from the offseason is no basis for criticizing the Eagles for not finding someone as stupid.

(EDITED TO ADD: Actually, I should have said "for not finding someone more stupid")

PS - the Seahawks paid way more for him than 6.5 mil.

PPS - and I could see Dallas or Cincy doing it.

Wtf are you babbling about? Trading for Jackson would have been paying for 16 games.

Anybody with the smallest iota of intellectual integrity would concede Seattle did a better job of moving Harvin than the Eagles with DJax. Apparently you lack that.

If you want to broaden the comparison, there's a Lombardi Trophy sitting in Seattle that settles that.

You may have a point if they had similar contracts. Jackson's contract was going to be a long term nightmare and nobody valued him at near his contracted value. Couple that with Jackson wanting MORE and you had a player nobody wanted to trade for.

The eagles FO may have screwed the pooch giving him that contract. Or maybe they knew what they were doing to get a few years out of him planning on it ending this way.

Harvin's contract may be worse. He's been less productive and he's punched out two teammates. Jackson wasn't demanding more money. He made an off the cuff comment that got blown out of proportion. He wasn't going to hold out. Harvin asked for a trade. Jackson wanted to stay in Philly.

Seahawks got something for Harvin, Eagles blew a similar situation. That's simply a fact. I don't understand why some people want to debate it. Kelly's been outstanding in general but he messed up a bit with DJax. I guess he figured it didn't matter that much. Probably doesnt. Seahawks screwed the pooch acquiring Harvin and still won it all.

Chip quite possibly felt that the contract made him undesirable via trade and it was not worth the distraction for the minimal return he may have been able to receive.

The two situations are different, and you should know it.

And a Lombardi Trophy proves nothing but that Seattle (who gave up 1st, a 3d, and a 7th, and paid 14 million dollars for ten games from Harvin) is better at anything except Denver on a particular day.

EDITED TO ADD: I wanted the Eagles to keep Jackson. But that's not the same issue as whether they could get a pick for him and his contract in the offseason.

You get something different for your pick here ... you get a look at Harvin on the field with your team for a fraction of a shitty contract ... with the option to cut him if he doesn't renegotiate a better number later.

With Jackson, all you got for your pick (assuming you paid one) is shitty contracts that you'd have to either pay or renegotiate to keep the player.

It has nothing to do with their front office's wonderful acumen at trading malcontents.

                          And you know it.

BTW - I'm wondering, what exactly did the Eagles do wrong with Jackson?

Exactly ... specifically ... how did they blow a potential deal?

No more generic "they suck" because they didn't get a pick.

How is it that they are deserving of your venom because they led horses to water but couldn't force them to drink?

Just heard Mort and Schefter say "If they couldn't trade him, they were prepared to cut him."

To me, the only difference between how they handled this and how the Eagles handled DeSean is that the Seahawks were lucky to have a desperate Jets waiting.
