  • I'm a proud cable cutter

Actually never have paid a dime to a cable TV company in my life.

But somehow it seems appropriate that March geighness (in the home of the corrrupt NCAA where they make anti gay laws) is not available on over the air TV here.

Believe it or not I own stock in Comcast. Not a lot but enough. This kind of sums up the way I feel about cable companies.

I cut the cord about a year ago. Ended up with a smaller bill and more things I want to watch available to me

Cut the cord almost 16 yrs ago

....even cut out all TV for several years. Have never regretted it one bit....missing absolutely nothing.

Do you like Amazon prime? Thinking about getting basic cable when we move and supplementing with something like that. Or does that not make sense to do. Thinling mostly of movies and shows on hbo etc.

I have Amazon prime primarily for the free shipping. It's quite helpful and cost effective because of my living situation in the heart of the city.

To me, the videos and music are just a bonus. I should probably use those services more. I know they have a lot of old HBO series (Sopranos, The Wire, etc.) available for streaming on demand.

I don't know where you are moving, but I'd consider getting an antenna instead of basic cable. Just checked and I get 75 channels over the air here. A lot of them are crap but that's not different than cable.

So antenna + streaming box (I can even watch TV from Spain with that-- can't do that with cable) works for me.
