  • They (not we) have 4 choices to go after

    1) Old retread (Gruden, Cowher, etc.)
    2) New retread (John Harbaugh, Pagano, etc.)
    3) Hot DC/OC (Jackson, McDermott, Gase, etc.)
    4) College dude (Stoops has been mentioned)

I'll admit I have no idea which way they are currently leaning, but I hope they focus on creating a great team of complementary coaches. I think that's what's most appealing to options 2 and 3; they could potentially assemble a high-functioning team.

Kelly was unable to bring any legit NFL minds in other than up-and-comer Fipp. Duce was largely unproven, Davis sucks, and Shurmur was simply an odd hire.

Another wild card will be who may be willing to work with HowHoe.

Except Stoopes are at least intriguing. Tom Donahoe and Cowher have a pretty close relationship, I wonder if he'll put some feelers out to gauge Bill's interest in returning to coaching.

Cowher's time has passed. Stay retired.

I'd target Cowher first and foremost. He's only 58 years
        Old.

All 3 of his daughters are grown and on their own.

He's a PA guy. I know he likes Raleigh but believe he has a place in NY too. I'd put a hard press on getting him as HC if he's interested in returning to the game. I'm shocked he's been out of the game this long to be honest.

Had a falling out in Pittsburgh.

As for the "the game has passed Cowher by" narrative, I could see him in charge of grown men and a team versus calling plays on the field, and potentially being successful at it.

He wants the Fire Marshal's job

he has no desire to coach in Philly

Cowher would probably be my first choice in all honesty...but over the years he's turned down a lot of opportunities to coach teams that were in WAY better shape than the Eagles are right now.

I think of the guys listed (not including Cower and Gruden who I think are both happy with their current gigs) I like McDermott most. Jim Johnson was always very high on him. I think that speaks volumes. I know he wasn't a big success when he got his shot as DC in Philly, but the team was in a downward spiral at the time. I think now that he's got a few more years under his belt he's worth a look.

I think either McDermott or Ben McAdoo, OC of the Giants, who has a strong relationship with Spagnoulo who could land back as the DC and go back to a 4-3.

Harbaugh is the only retread I'd consider but I'd be shocked if he became available.

I like the idea of a hot coordinator. I can see Lurie loving McDermott. There definitely would be a weird element to going back to someone from the FF area.

Redskin fan here. I'm not going to troll you guys. The first thing your owner needs to do is do what Dan Snyder did. Hire a true GM, one who lives for the personnel side of it. Then let him hire the coach.

After all the years of BS w/ Dan Snyder, he has finally got it right be hiring the right guy to pick players. That's where it all starts, getting the right players. Just don't see any of that going on with your franchise.

Got what right? Your team is horrible, your QB is an idiot (Kneeling on 2 yd line with no timeouts), your record will not be a winning record. You are delusional. Same old Redskins.

You know he'd get respect from the jump, and I think he'd be much, much better at dealing with grown men than Chip turned out to be. The guy has dealt with the likes of Greg Lloyd and Kevin Greene, I can't see him having too much of an issue with Bumford and Murray.
