  • Even if they hadn't signed Bradford

there isn't a chance this team was going to be in a position to draft Watson next season. Even if Sanchez was the qb. There's too much talent (not a lot, just too much) in a bad division for them to tank.

Remember, the Sixers started the season with maybe 3 actual NBA players on an otherwise Development League roster in a league with much less parity. It was an orchestrated tank job. The Eagles aren't on that level.

Can't kill them for signing Bradford to a cheap, short term deal.

    not so sure about that

they have a chance to really suck, even with Bradford, IMO

Worst team in the league suck? That's what it will take to get Watson. I don't see it. I actually think they can compete for the division (mostly a commentary on the division and not the Eagles). And I don't think you can embark on an organizational tanking program like you can in the NBA where you only have 12 players on a team and 5 on the floor at one time. There's something to be said for not wanting to be in "purgatory" - good enough to win some games, but not good enough to win it all. But there's a flip side to that - being bad enough to suck but not bad enough to capitalize on it. That may be worse, because you have to deal with losing and no benefit.

At the end of the day, I rely on the Eagles to provide way too much entertainment for me (even as my passion has waned over the years). I'd rather they win than lose.

You're ignoring their (not our) history. Even if they (we) were worst team by a mile they'd somehow F it up and miss out on the top pick.

Cuz we are cursed. Always have been. Likely always will be.

Dallas ended up with the fourth pick after winning this division. You don't necessarily need the top pick. You need to be close. Tanking is easier when you go with the young guys. I think fans may be overestimating the talent on this team, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Yeah but the jump between Dallas going from Romo to Weeden is much greater than the Eagles going from Bradford to Sanchez or a rookie. I just don't see how they can be worse than last year. They did what they did last year with a terrible o line and a group of receivers that can't be worse. They ran a scheme where opposing players were calling out the plays before the ball was snapped and had the defense on the field 30 minutes a game. How can it get worse than that? Honest question. To me, last season is closer to a floor than a ceiling.

I agree with you. The D was formidable for the first part of the season. When they have time to rest, I believe they'll be much better (I know...profound...)

Bring in Chase Daniel. I truly believe the fans would welcome a year of tanking. It can be done. I've seen other teams tank. I have no idea why people think it can't be done here. I see people say this team's offense stinks. There's a good chance the defense could stink too. Stay out of free agency, go young when it comes to filling in the gaps, and trade the roach for a bag of balls. Fans just get tired of the seeing same shit sandwich with a different wrapper.

I think we are gonna see what the FO's intentions are on draft day. If they go with a QB, it's likely they are thinking what you're thinking.

If they go with an Olineman (which I believe they will), they are probably looking to win the division.

I dont want to see a Paxton Lynch if they see him as another project. I'd rather them draft the best player available.

It's not as easy as it is in the NBA. I just don't think they are bad enough, with or without Bradford, of being the worst team in the league.

But nevertheless, here's what I don't get - on one hand people are saying Bradford sucks. Ok fine, but then how can you argue that this risk free two year deal inhibits them from being bad or finding a qb in the draft? This deal does nothing. They have a qb you think sucks starting for the next year or two as opposed to a quarterback you think sucks starting for the next year or two.

Ask Hinkie how easy it is to tank in the NBA. He's been struggling for years. BTW, great Lakers win last night. Bradford is better than Sanchez and Daniel but he's not the answer. I prefer not to root for injuries so him being here is a waste of a season or two. This is no different than rooting for Romo or Cousins to stay on their current teams.

It's not "easy" in the NBA and it's even harder in the NFL. That's all I'm saying.

What do you think this team's record would be with Daniel? Which teams could be worse? Of those teams that could be worse, which need a QB? Keep in mind that there's a good chance the Browns, Niners, and/or Rams may address this need this draft. I know it's all 'what ifs' but at least it's a plan. Right now, their plan stinks.

Almost the entire board was hoping they would lose to NYG in the final game the last two seasons for draft position. Now, there's talk of Bradford being a good move because he's better than a Daniel or Sanchez...He's maybe one or two games better. You can't be thrilled with Sham's extra win or two now but then cheer for losses later in the season once they're inevitably eliminated from any real contention.

Cut out the middle man. Let Sham walk and then you don't have to worry too much about a must-lose.
