Hidden Gem of Philadelphia I discovered last night
I love a good comment on your handle but I'll refrain from any insults here because you are sorta correct.
Franklin Square is one of the five original squares planned by William Penn when he was setting up Philadelphia. Unfortunately, by the 1900s the surrounding area got a little seedy. Then a little later the place got somewhat cut off from the rest of the city by the approaches to the Ben Franklin bridge.
Now with center city Philadelphia having a bit of a renaissance that square is being used for good purposes and visited by normal people, family, etc. Not the bad types that were there in the past.
Unfortunately the location still remains cut off by the approaches to the bridge and the Vine ST expressway (676). There is a PATCO station there which was closed many years ago because the place is a bit isolated. But recently there have been proposals to reopen the station.
LIVED IN PHILLY TILL 2000, 45 MINUTES AWAY SINCE THEN. NEVER KNEW ABOUT IT, BUT DOWNTOWN MAKES ME CRAZY.
I CAN FEEL MY BLOOD PRESSURE RISE JUST GETTING CLOSE TO TOWN. I AVOID AS MUCH AS I CAN.
TALL TREES, NOT TALL BUILDINGS.

I never knew you lived in Philadelphia. What neighborhood did you live in?

I found out the park was a place for homeless people and drug dealers until Historic Philadelphia took over and revitalized the park which lead to the opening in 2006.
Ok I know the area where you were born. Close to Temple hospital / medical school. I spent a lot of time there with my ex wife helping her out on various things. I don't know Frankford as well.
