Brother lives in Jupiter Island, about an hour and half north of Miami. He's heading out today. Places are running out of gas, and there's the spots charging five, six, even 7 bucks or more per gallon. Hopefully everyone can get out now because this one's the real deal. 40 hour estimate drive the Georgia state line, IF you're able to get enough gas to make it there.

They may have to rethink mandatory evacuations after this.

as you know they had the shore house in OC for the week. They are stuck here, My nephew and his wife flew back yesterday,,,this one looks even more destructive than Andrew,,,Happy he is still up here...just go back when the power is restored!

I don't know that there's any good solution when the entire populace is hitting road at the same time. The gas is as much of problem as the congestion at this point.

Honestly, I don't know what I'd do if I were still living down there.

Some times they do, I can remember running supply down to fl. just before Andrew hit and the south bound traffic was running the shoulder (very little traffic) and NB had the 4 north lanes and 3 south lanes, the problem with it becomes when people want to try and get off the highway and all of the exit/entrance ramps are backwards, so they only did it for short stretches.
