Very catchy song. Even now, every once in a while that song runs through my head.

He had an interesting impact in music.
      A few tidbits:

      First verse:
“There was a group called The Jokers, they were layin' it down, ’cause ya know I'm never gonna lose that funky sound.” His friend Dicky Betts was in The Jokers prior to the Allman Brothers.

He played guitar in Eggar Winters, “Frankenstein”

His group the McCoy’s, “Hang On Sloopy” song took over the #1 spot from the Beatles, “Yesterday” in 1965.

I’’ve got to man up and admit that I always thought, “Hang On Sloopy” was titled, “Hang On Snoopy”. That song was before my time but I heard in in my informative Charlie Brown years.
