    WOOHOO?

At least we know where our first round draft pick will be going this offseason.

      Yep...a 235lb "fastball" that's best suited for a 3-4 defense.

I'm sure by the end of the year we'll see Lindley there too. Might as well.

Just reading up on the top CB prospects in this year's draft...i want Brandon Harris from the U...To borrow a move from Ivan-d-terrible...

          Brandon Harris*, CB, Miami
          Height: 5-11. Weight: 195.
          Projected 40 Time: 4.41.
Projected Round (2011): Top 20 Pick.

Harris is a baller - period. On tape, he produces and plays with the swagger and confidence you want to see out of a cornerback. He's a missle in run support and shows the ability to take on a block. In coverage, receivers really struggle to separate and offensive coordinators have stopped calling plays his way this season.
As it's been posted on here a couple times, this team and more specifically the defense has no identity. Let's add a prototypical U player to that D and hope he can replicate most of the other 'Canes success.

            ...

Patterson has played pretty well this season when he has been in.. Now its obviously going to be different starting the RCB position and playing on the outside instead of the inside.. But I gotta believe (or hope) he's going to be better than what Hobbs was doing..

The name that gets lost in all of this defensive secondary talk is Joselio Hanson.
From what I've seen, the guy can't play. He also was given a large contract a few years back that pays him $5.7 million this season. In other words, they threw big $$$ at a backup player, so now they don't have a lot of financial wiggle room to bring in somebody better.

BTW, that $5.7 million salary appears to put him behind only Jason Peters and Asante Samuels. Say what you want about both of these players, they both at least start for this team. Hanson appears to be our 4th cornerback.

He's not making 5.7 million or whatever, he's making 800K this year. He signed a deal after the 2008 season when he was locking down slot receivers, and got 6 mil in signing bonus, spread out over 5 years, so about 1.2 million per. It's not a terrible deal if you think about how good he was during that late season run that got the team to the NFCCG--this is the other side of the Joeball special, the Reggie Brown effect.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I wish they would have drafted this kid McCourty. He's a playmaker, and will man up on the defense's best WR. He's not lockdown yet, but he might be, eventually. Having him on the other side of Ashanti would have created more opportunities for Ashanti to pick passes--McCourty has a very complementary style.

duh. Remember we dont "man up" our best corner on their best guy. What kinda weird scheme would that be?

                          Manning will target Dmitri

but maybe he has more fight in him than Hobbs.

more good news: Jason Peters practiced and will play Sunday. Now if he can just nix those holding penalties ...

Why, does Plax have Hakeem on his fantasy team?

Hmm you bring up a good point. Is Patterson even half the fighter and scrapper that Hobbs is?
