      Agree

Big loss. 250 pounds with nimble feet and... the key here... a great sense for zone blocking. Not to mention his championship attitude.

Yes. He is competing against Sproles as a kick/ punt returner and RB specialist. Pumphrey needs to show enough to warrant cutting Sproles and his one year commitment .

Clement and Ajayi have two of the three RB roles locked up. The Blount role will be between Smallwood and a draft pick or FA pick up.

I'm not really talking about the resumes as much as the fact that they both seem like cute picks whose skills don't translate to the NFL. If Sproles is on the team in 2018 I'll be shocked if Pumphrey has a Clement-like season. I know Pumphrey was supposed to replace Sproles (who they thought would retire after 2017), but Sproles is a unique player in NFL history who I think is pretty hard to replicate.
I may be a year off if Sproles ends up on the team. But I'm still intrigued by Pumphrey, based on his body of work and his character.

If you can believe Marcus Hayes, it sounds like Pumphrey will get a shot at making the team.

From the article: “Last year, me and [Duce] weren’t as good as we are now,” Pumphrey said Tuesday after the Eagles’ first OTA session. “I was taking a lot of criticism from him. I needed to look myself in the mirror, and just learn from him.”

Sounds like he has been working hard in the offseason

The fact he was working out with Sproles in the offseason is a good sign, much can be learned from a guy who you are already built like and especially if you are undersized by league standards. I would not be surprised if he shows us a lot more potential this year, could at least be a good KR on ST.

Question is did he spend the effort during the offseason to become NFL level?

                  It will be interesting.

IMO the Birds are gonna miss a steamroller like Blount. Pumphrery certaintly can't replace that role.
He goes to the Patriots like all of our other cast offs and becomes a Pro Bowler.

They traded up in the 4th to draft him and then they stashed him. I think they will give him every chance of making the team.

Hope he works out. I know it doesn't transfer over all the time, but he was really good in college.

I really liked the pick at the time because of how well he played in college. Still optimistic he can put it together and make the team - kind of funny they traded up to get Pumphrey in the 4th yet nabbed Clement as an undrafted free agent. Maybe that draft class was as deep at RB as people said it would be.
