Lots of kids play soccer for some period of their youth so there are indeed millions of them. But whether or not they watch soccer, buy gear and become soccer consumers is what will determine whether or not that sport rises in the USOriginally posted by The Ref View Post
Many kids play soccer on Saturday and then tune in to the NFL on Sunday, so participation alone won't push that sport into the top spot for a long time, if ever

You could be right. My assumption was/is that early life participation in a sport breeds the sort of deep-down-in-your-gut affection for the game. It certainly makes for better adult players.
Maybe your point is more akin to Jazz...at least for me. Fun to play, boring to listen to.Comment
