    Some interesting stats. NOTE: these are stats NOT expert analysis!

    The NFL is sending a message to Geno Smith, and it's not a positive one.Four quarterback-needy teams picking in the top eight have acquired veteran signal-callers -- the Chiefs (Alex Smith), Raiders (Matt Flynn), Cards (Carson Palmer) and Bills (Kevin Kolb).


    * 117 of 518 passes at or behind the line of scrimmage

    * 37.3 percent completion rate on passes longer than 20 yards-- 6th out of 8 top QB prospects in the draft

    * 70.8 percent completion rate against the blitz-- best out of top 8 QB prospects

      I agree! That's why I posted the link on the board. I did it in the hope that one of the experts on the board could provide the necessary expert analysis.

        Dana Holgorsen runs a system that inflates qb stats. Texas Tech, Houston, Oklahoma State, and West Va. all had great offensive output while he was at each place. For qb's so far it hasn't translated into pro production.

        I'm willing to give Chip the benefit of the doubt. For some reason I have a feeling he will pass on Geno even if available though.

            Other QBS who ran this offense in college include Kevin Kolb, Nick Foles, RG3 and Johnny Football.

              I'm talking about Holgorsen's system and qb's specifically. Graham Harrell, Cody Hodges, Case Keenum, Brandon Weedon, and Geno Smith.

              They all set school records for offense, and were in the top 10 nationally. Brandon Weedon is the most accomplished in the NFL.

                Yeah, generally that offense is going to inflate numbers but this coach is not the only one taking advantage of that at the college level.

                I generally agree that Geno Smith's college stats lack relevance but he needs to be considered as a prospect. He doesn't have that awe factor when looking at him but he looks like a able and skilled QB who has potential. Overall, it looks like a down year for prospects across the board so that is what makes Smith a possibility at four.

                For me, it's Jordan, Floyd and then everyone else. So if they are both off the board and the Eagles want to grab Smith I'm OK with that.
