  • ESPN 30 for 30 series: Survive and Advance

It's a two hour documentary of the 1983 NC State basketball team and their miracle run. I certainly would recommend it to all sports fans.

As a side note: check out the 3 point arc when it was first implemented... it was around 2 to 3 feet inside the top of the key!

just watched it. Probably one of the best ESPN films they have made. Highly recommend anybody on this board to watch it. It reminded me of the movie Brian's song.

I had a big UNC fan tell me all about how Jimmie v was a scumbag. After watching that I think it couldn't be further from the truth. Even if he was a little shady at times, which he might not have been at all, he was a really positive inspiring dude that wasn't afraid to be who he was.

I always get a chill with that ESPY speech.

        Agreed.

It's amazing to recall all the adversity and competition that their team had to overcome.

Whittenberg was correctly portrayed as a great shooter but Thurl Bailey was the unsung hero.

Jimmie V was the darling in his early years, but later he got somewhat carried away with himself. in the booth, etc. Still, he was likable and I don't recall the details, but I remember thinking that he got screwed by NC State.... could be wrong though.
