RIP, Pat.
By all accounts, an honestly good guy.
Didn't he credit Tom Brookshire for saving his life from alcoholism?John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

Yea, it was like listening to two good buddies doing the game.John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

He Was Like Ray Scott
Pat and Ray both knew the pictures told the story. He didn't do play-by-play like former radio guys-turned-TV announcers -- he knew just what needed to be said and when to shut up to let Brookie or John Madden take over.
As good as he and Madden were, I always thought he and Brookie could read each others minds -- they were the perfect team.
Rest In Peace, Pat."If I owned Texas and Hell, I'd rent out Texas and live in Hell!"

Cool story.
Was listening to Ray Diddy on the radio today and he mentioned that Emmitt Smiff requested that Pat do the game where he was going to break the rushing record. He wanted the feat to be immortalized by his call.John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.
