  • Here's what I don't get

These guys carjacked a guy, drove around with him for half an hour, told him they were the bombers, and then they LET HIM GO.

That's probably because you're not crazy.

I'm Wondering If These Brothers Really Were Puppets

MSNBC says there is an indication there is a third suspect police want to get. If that's true, he could be the mastermind. The brothers admitting they did the bombing and killed the officer and then letting the man go, smacks of them saying, "Here we are, come get us," while the other guy gets away.

The "escape" was too amateurish compared to the bombing. Something's not right.

or...it's possible that they planned and did a walkthrough every day for months regarding the planting of the bomb. the fact that it actually worked...and that they were being targeted pretty quickly...they probably weren't prepared for that part of it.

hence...the fact that they were so sloppy in getting away.

I have only been hearing bits and pieces, but what I don't get is... These 2 had the entire US Govt hunting them down. They get in a gun fight in their OWN NEIGHBORHOOD? and one of them ESCAPES? How does that even happen? How does he just "escape"? And they are the most wanted fugitives in the US at this time and they go back home and post shit on twitter? what?

I'm probably missing something, can anyone fill in the blanks?

Bwah - I had a similar discussion with a co-worker a few minutes ago. How the heck does the kid just drive off from a shootout and escape?

That he ran over his brother ( dead suspect) after the gun fight, maybe had something to do with his escape??

Gotta be missing something. You don't bomb the boston marathon and then get in a shootout in your home neighborhood with the police 4 days later and then walk away.

Were the police/fbi/etc standing there saying "holy shit, he just ran over his brother" as he drove away?

so, i'm just realizing that the actual shootout didn't happen in their neighborhood and cops might not have known he was the suspect when the shootout happened? makes more sense, but still, a lot of shadyness around this.

RSE posted a deadspin link a few threads ago with eyewitness accounts of the escape. It read like a B movie scene where he just drove an SUV right at the police, pedal to the medal. CNN hasn't confirmed, so I don't know if it's true.

What I don't get is why they didn't have helicopters in the air from the get, to follow the guys if they ran. In LA, we have helicopters monitoring even the most petty of crime scenes. the noise is annoying as hell to residents.

They knew they were the suspects. The guy they let go told the police.
