I didn't see any armed citizens out there...
Looked like law enforcement to me, the ones who should have the assault weaponry. Should send the opposite message to the nuts, especially if they think they might need to defend against their own government. Doubt they could fend off a home invasion let alone start an insurgency against the corrupt US government.The crux of the biscuit is the apostrophe'

I am a gun nut!
And you Idiots have no Idea what you are talking about!
What is an assault rifle, Didn't the American patriots assault the British in Lexington with rifles, weren't they assault rifles.
Didn't the Rebels at Harpers Ferry assault the Union Troops with assault rifles?
Didn't the Union troops at Gettysburg repel the Rebels with assault riffles?
I happen to own an assault rifle used in each of these battles, and I am a card carrying member of the NRA.
I have shot defenseless Deer, Turkeys, Rabbits and Squirles, and a few rats, and Rattlesnakes."Never Look Back, Something May Be Gaining On You."

It must be an individual weapon with provision to fire from the shoulder (i.e. a buttstock);
It must be capable of selective fire;
It must have an intermediate-power cartridge: more power than a pistol but less than a standard rifle or battle rifle;
Its ammunition must be supplied from a detachable magazine rather than a feed-belt.
And it should at least have a firing range of 300 meters (1000 feet)
Rifles that meet most of these criteria, but not all, are technically not assault rifles despite frequently being considered as such. For example, semi-automatic-only rifles like the AR-15 (on which the M16 rifle is based) that share parts or design characteristics with assault rifles are not assault rifles, as they are not capable of switching to automatic fire and thus are not selective-fire capable. Belt-fed weapons or rifles with fixed magazines are likewise not assault rifles because they do not have detachable box magazines.
Tread carefully with calling people idiots when you don't even know the basics.Last edited by FuriousXGeorge; 04-20-2013, 04:31 AM.

Those Are Called Single Shot Rifles/Muskets
One shot. Bang. Your gun is empty and it takes you 20 to 30 seconds to reload it and prepare it to fire again if you're good, longer if you're not.
Are you HONESTLY sitting there with a straight face trying to convince the world that your single shot rifle/musket is AN ASSAULT RIFLE??
You know damn well what an assault rifle is and I serious doubt you're ever going to use one to hunt Bambi or Thumper!!"If I owned Texas and Hell, I'd rent out Texas and live in Hell!"

You're An NRA Member, Right?
This is exactly the kind of double talk the NRA has used for years to try and justify why every single one of its members should be allowed to arm themselves with anything short of a stealth bomber -- so let's Google it.
Merriam-Webster on-line: Assult rifle -- any of various automatic or semiautomatic rifles with large capacity magazines designed for military use.
Wikipedia: "An assault rifle is a selective fire (selective between automatic, semi-automatic, and burst fire) rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine. Assault rifles are the standard service rifles in most modern armies. Fully automatic fire refers to an ability for a rifle to fire continuously while the trigger is pressed; "burst-capable" fire refers to an ability of a rifle to fire a small yet fixed multiple number of rounds with but one press of the trigger; in contrast, semi-automatic refers to an ability to fire one round per press of a trigger."
Is that better?"If I owned Texas and Hell, I'd rent out Texas and live in Hell!"
