No, I'm thinking you can get a good third tight end for less than the 36th pick in the draft.

I understand your position, but the point I and others are making is that this guy has the credentials to make the other two become the second and third tight ends.

Maybe Chip doesn't like what he sees in Celek. Let's face it, Celek does have his L. J. Smith moments.

more than a 'good' TE and it is a position of high value in his system. According to Chip this kid was the best player on their board. Celek is getting older and he is building a team for the long haul, so this pick does make sense based on the new scheme.

How many really good tight ends are taken after the 2nd round?

he is, as Maniac said, above average. Ertz seems like, among other things, a legitimate red zone threat - which is a legitimate need for this team

He's not going to be a third tight end.

Agreed. I'm no Celek fan. But doesn't make sense to me with the second pick. Another weapon on offense is not that important.

                      Gotta go defense there.

Well, we found out one thing tonight

Maniac don't know shit! I like the pick, screw what you need, pick the best player available, period. There were some people had him going mid second. As much as I like Celek, he is mediocre, period.

yeah. an upgrade at tight end is what the eagles really need.

Wait until they take Marquis Goodwin with the next pick - you may spontaneously combust.

                              Trust in Gamble the Younger

He helped build a winner in San Fran. Here's hoping he does the same with the Iggles.
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

What's great about this pick is he had a horrible combine. But he's said to be a football player. Not a workout warrior.

Like it. Never was a fan of Celek.
