  • PFT: McCoy challenges “old man” Vick to race, and gets smoked

Eagles safety Colt Anderson has posted the basic details on Twitter: quarterback Mike Vick and running back LeSean McCoy raced in practice on Thursday, and Vick won.

But there’s more to the story, which we’ve obtained from a league source with knowledge of the situation.

McCoy had been riding Vick for weeks, calling him “old man” and challenging Vick to a footrace. Vick had been laughing it off, until today.

Today, Vick had enough. So he asked coach Chip Kelly if he could accept McCoy’s invitation. Kelly agreed.

So they lined up and took off, and Vick didn’t just beat McCoy. Vick smoked McCoy by roughly five yards, and their teammates went nuts.

It has no direct relevance to the fate of the 2013 Eagles, but it proves that the “old man” can still move, which is bad news for any defense facing him this year.

I feel like the real story here is that Mccoy has once again written checks with his mouth that his ass can't cash.
The Eagles are boneheads. This is one of the top 10 biggest bonehead trades in the history of the NFL. - Chris Cooley 9/15/2010

Apparently his ability to embarrass himself knows no bounds.

Maybe there's just a good air of competition with this team.

More likely just another example of high school harry prommoting a juvenile field-day type atmosphere!

Well it apparently has Vick running like a high schooler again.

              I knew it

I knew that as soon as Chip Kelly took this job, this kind of amatuerish, Gong Show crap would start playing out all over the Novacare complex. This is a classic example of what happens when you hire a guy with no NFL experience. Luckily for us, we'll only have to put up with it for the next two years or so, until the Chipster fails miserably. After that, Kelly will be out of here on the first thing smokin'.

If Vick thinks he can take off with the ball because he's still fast, this is bad news for the Eagles more than other teams.

                  His mistake

McCoy should have stipulated you have to slide across the finish line to win.

And in another throwing competition, McCoy proved that his arm is more accurate than Vick's!

Vick would slide head first and be on IR for 6 months.

Chip Kelly has a 5 year contract even if he falls on his face he'll be the coach for a least 4 years.

great! that'll continue to make him think he can win a game by himself, hold the ball forever, take terrible sacks, throw garbage Int's, and fumble 15 times.

It's the worst thing that could have happened.
