but then Hubie would have to leave the color commentary gig and deprive me and the rest of the basketball world of the most insightful, in-depth basketball analysis EVER.

Loved Hubie when he was with the Knicks

I covered many a Sixers-Knicks game back in the 80s. Billy Cunningham HATED the guy and I could never figure out a reason other than coaching envy. I loved talking hoops with Hubie.

You are talking about the Bernard King and Rory Sparrow days. Those were the days I missed.

I had the chance to meet a lot of great coaches in that era

How many remember Chuck Daly started his NBA career as a Sixers assistant? Hubie, Bill Fitch, Frank Laydon, Lenny Wilkens, Pat Riley are just a few who come to mind.

Just so long as he's not making the picks.

He was brutal when he did that for the Sixers.

                        Agreed

I dont know about this guy from Houston, but apparently he was a finalist before when they hired Thorn.

                          NBA Dorkametrics.

It will be interesting to see how that goes. I'm surprised they let DiLeo go. At the very worst he was a very good talent evaluator. Him being a local guy and all that, I hope he lands on his feet somewhere. The guy was a behind the scenes workhorse for the organ-EYE-zation for years.
