I'd rather send money. It's more helpful.

I agree about the charitable thoughts and prayers, but I also find it a little infuriating that politicians from Oklahoma wanted to deny government relief to people here on the East Coast who's lives were devastated by Sandy.

I guess the thing here is to turn the other cheek and show that you are better than those politicians.

        After Katrina, in Mississippi, I got more help from;

Family, friends, and churches, in Philly, and Pa. than I did from FEMA!

Yet section '8' welfare people who were displaced were still living in FEMA trailers 2 years later.

I have no problem with personal donations, but fuck them if they want federal disaster aid.

Aren't you supposed to have homeowner's insurance to cover that? This isn't a scenario where houses outside a flood zone got flooded and were thus uninsured.

If you own a home and you have homeowner's insurance, then they should be fine. The towns and governments may need aid to get re-built, but not the homeowners.

I'm not sure where Cb is coming from, but back to what IE said - Coburn and Inhofe (OK Senators) have consistently voted against funding for disaster relief and FEMA.

Now that they have had a significant disaster hit their constituents, it will be interesting to see what positions they hold.

                  Act of God?
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

Sit hear near the east coast and see what the people are going through, then listen to conservative asshats try and prevent money from coming here, fuck them. The people will get money anyway

The homeowners probably have insurance to take care of their home, but it's not the fault of the citizens of Moore/OKC that those two d-bag senators lobbied against helping those affected by Hurricane Sandy. If they need federal aid in those cities, they should get it

That's not the people of Oklahoma's fault

The citizens didn't sit there and lobby against that. You want to punish EVERYBODY because two senators are assholes ??

In the minds of Inhofe and Coburn, it may be more beneficial to their constituents to not give then federal disaster aid as that's their stance for others Americans.

Of course they're going to get federal aid and Oklahoma will still probably have representatives that vote against it in the future.

This is an academic exercise in pointing out hypocrisy.

but those senators were elected by the people. They represent their people. They are the people's voice. They are tough talkers.
