Kutztown has been putting a good lineup out there on Wednesday nights. All my favorites from 20 years ago at Big Diamond, haha.

Probably what I miss the most about the EC, moved out here 22 years ago, guy asks if I want to go to the races with him.

I said sure,what are they racing, he says "Modifieds" as a regular at Nazareth, Flemington,Penn Nat,Sellinsgrove, and crewed occasionally at Syracuse, I was really looking forward to it.

We pull into the pits and I said, so where's the Mods, he says, right there, pointing to this glorified limited late model with a somewhat Modified body on it, 8" wide tires, and a 355 motor,,,,,,,,,, I really didn't quite know how to tell him that, that thing wasn't a REAL Modified.

Some day I'll make it back to the Moody Mile!

Damn, I Was There Too!!!

My best friend and I went to that race -- he was an Andretti fan but Bobby Unser was my favorite.

After the race -- which Unser won, if you recall -- my friend went down to Andretti's pit and got to talk to him. I went to Unser's pit and took his pit/message blackboard off the cockpit of his car, The Bardol Special. Nobody from the crew was around anywhere.

We made it out the main gate, I'm carrying the blackboard and we're almost home free at his car when one of Unser's pit crew walks by the final track gate and sees me. He runs at me screaming, "Hey, you son of a bitch, that my equipment!" -- he doesn't kill me.

So close -- so close.

Grandview still run the Freedom 76 weekend, I think that's what it was called, been a Loong time. I was in Ohio the night he pulled his open car trailer in with his p/u and parked next to all of the high dollar World of Outlaw stars and their semi's and motorhomes.

At the end of the night, they ALL knew his name, and what the back of his car looked like, ya don't underestimate the "Pa. Posse", lol
