Off to Chicago for a wieghtlifting competition tomorrow, never been there other than the airport. Anyone have recommendations for a good place for steak downtown? Any other food ideas appreciated too.

Chicago style hot dogs are pretty good. Not sure where the best place to get one is.

As for Chicago, ask a few locals for the best Chi-town style pizza joint and start there.

Never been there but Smoque BBQ looked good on Diners Drive-ins and Dives.

Hard to go wrong in Chicago.

I really like the pizza at Pizano's...even the thin-crust is "deep-dish" style if you are looking for deep-dish taste but don't want to try some of those lasagna-thick pan pizzas.

There're some good restaurants in the theater district, I had a good meal on Navy Pier-can't remember name but it was on second-floor, good seafood dishes.

Gibson's has the best steaks.
Lou Malnatti's has the best Chicago style pizza.
Portillo's is VERY good fast food roast beef.
And lastly, get yourself a Chicago Mix tin from Garrett Popcorn.

I forgot you are an oly lifting guy. Ive been doing alot of oly lifting over the past year...most recently a 12 week barbell program aside from crossfit just for building strength. Good luck at the competition hoser.

As for Chicago, any of the Publican family restaurants are amazing. Avec. Blackbird.

Frontera Grill and higher end sister restaurant Topalambopo (spelling) are the absolute best in upscale mexican. Rick Bayless is Skip Bayless' brother and a freaking genius chef. Duck mole. Unbelievable.

Graham Elliots restaurants are also big but not sure how they are since he became a celebrity chef.

Gibsons is where u go if u want a giant cowboy cut ribeye.

Hot dougs is the best for dogs.

Portillos is a standard go to for dogs and italian beef.

I prefer Giordanos stuffed pizza to Chicago deep dish.

Theres tons of places for italian beef. Als has tons of locations and is solid. Def get the giardinera on it.

Thanks for the ideas. Hey Diggle, there is a good Oly gym in Moorestown with some good coaches if you're looking for some help with the oly lifts. Off to the Pan Americans.....
