You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

It's the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. KG is probably otherwise indisposed.

You are probably right. He's getting his Civil War field dressing up to date for the convention.

Watching A Gettysburg Special On History2 At 10 PM

Wednesday afternoon I'll be watching the movie "Gettysburg" timed so that Pickets Charge hits the screen at 2 PM.

I was watching that. Did you see that one dude....

...(I'm assuming he was some kind of general or something) get shot in the foot? He was the one on the horse. Then he gets hit again and he falls off the horse and he's laying there dying and this other non-horse dude goes to give him a drink of water, but his canteen was shot out and all the water drained out.

The General Was William Barksdale Of Mississippi

I've read a lot about Gettysburg, watched specials and studied it in college and I think that special must have been written by a Southerner. There were a few locations where Confederates reached the Union lines but from all I've learned, Lee wasn't anywhere near as close to "winning" as the special made it out to be.

I think we're headed for another civil war

With all of this red state/blue state sh*t. There are some really wild, radical opinions out there these days. It's funny how humans go. We have no one external to go after, so we turn on each other.

I have the day off, and my birthday is on Independence day, so I'll take a moment to mouth off a bit... partially tongue in cheek.

I think all of these gun nuts concerned about "Tyranny" need a reality check.

It's like that d-bag Snowden who whines about the US government and then goes off running off to China and Russia. These clowns should be careful what they wish for.

Face it, there is no way the U.S. government could be brought down from inside from the populace short of a military coup. Maybe after an attack by the Chinese or Russians all bets would be off but right now our military is just too powerful. The idea that guns are a check on runaway government is ridiculous, IMO

Skeeter with his .22 isn't going to be able to bring the government down. An army of Skeeters with AR15s couldn't do it. Hell, pretty much every family in Iraq had an AK and we saw what happened there.

My personal belief is that a lot of these people complaining about 'Tyranny" are just upset that a Republican isn't in the White House right now. And for a significant subset of them, the upset is compounded by the racial background of the President.

As much as many of them proclaim to hate GW Bush at this moment, I suspect they would be quiet if his brother got elected to the White House.

                          Happy 4th of July!

I don't know where this notion comes from that there's all these people buying guns to fight off the government. I'm sure there's a much larger number buyiing guns for the opposite reason - the "preppers" - that think government and society will disintegrate because of a natural disaster or economic collapse.

The truth is the far right and far left have always been paranoid about the government. the right worried about losing rights such as gun ownership and independence, the left worried about losing privacy/civil liberties rights. I find it ironic that right now we are losing privacy rights, yet suddenly the far left isn't that concerned about it. But if a republican was in the white house...

                            Anywho... Happy Birthday!

IDK, it sure sounds to me like a lot of people use the concept of "Tyranny" to justify an expansive interpretation of the second amendment to justify no regulation of firearms. Hell, the second amendment doesn't say "firearms"... it says "arms". That could mean any sort of weapon.

Also the word "regulated" is in there somewhere. That part seems to get left out in the anti "tyrannical" interpretation of the amendment.

I'm in the Two Gap camp... never felt the need to own a gun. When I had the chance to inherit a hand gun from my grandfather, I had it destroyed. That doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy a little target practice on a range.

But getting back to my main point, I mean what is all of this talk you hear regarding "Tyranny" on Fox news about? I heard Snowden's main man Glenn Greenwald was on Fox and Friends this morning!
