I like Lecavalier but I don't know if he has
5 good years left in him. I know why he signed with the Flyers because I doubt anyone else was offering him a 5 year contract. They just signed a 35 year old defenseman to a 4 year old contract and a 33 year old forward to a 5 year contract. To get under the cap they will try and trade Braydon Coburn 28 who is arguably the best defenseman on a team with a bad defence. He had a horrible season but with the lockout and injuries I'd give him a mulligan. I don't understand what they're doing. Cup is ours.

From what I heard on the radio

The bigger problem is that he wasn't a position of great need. He a natural center, and the roster is chalked full of them. Giroux, Shenn, Coutourier, Talbot, Laughton, and Read are all centers. They needed a sniper winger, D, and a veteran G. Now they have $5 million less to spend this year addressing these needs. They'll have to trade Coburn to sign any other FAs.

He's 33.
They can walk away from his contract, if that's the case. The over 35 age rule doesn't apply. And Vinny has plenty left in the tank.John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

The Flyers could get a couple of productive years

It's always patchwork with the Flyers. for once, maybe they should gut the team and go with a youth movement and acquire draft picks.

Vinny: 33. Briere: 36
And Vinny is a cheaper cap hit. What's not to understand?John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

The Flyers may have had a deal to send him to Edmonton (his home) at the draft but some of the other chips weren't in place. They definitely need the cap space so he may be traded soon.
