  • Time for Phillies to sell.

Part of me wants to hold out for one last run but the reality is they are not going to be able to challenge for the WS title this year.

Given the age and value of some of the players on the roster... now is the time to sell.

Sorry, Kelly Green, I think one way or another you are due for a couple of years of "basebore".

    level of agreement

    1000%

I hate to see this team lose fan momentum (even though they already have), but it's time to call this one.

trade everyone but dom and cole. definitely trade papelbon(i'll be very happy to see him go). definitely definitely trade lee(his value will never be higher). listen for offers on utley, but i don't think he'll command too much, and i don't think he'll want to go to the AL in free agency. i think he stays as a reasonable price.

Selling is too much comon sense for Amaro

Worst case scenario is the FO following the RedSox ideology cutting dead weight and retooling.

yep, time to play the young guys. Trade the vets for younger talent. I only hope that some of the good soldiers - Chase, Rollins, etc get sent to teams that have a chance to play in the series.

... and please, please, trade Howard. He's expensive and he's delaying some prospects from coming up.

I'm sure they would move Howard if they could...

Why will you be happy to see Papelbon go? If the rest of this team were for real, there wouldn't be too many better options out there. He needs to be traded because he is one of their better players who can help another team. Not because he sucks.

Utley has been the Utley of 2008 the past few weeks, so I'm shopping him like crazy right now.

Brown, Hamels, and Howard are the only true untouchables right now, and they're not getting rid of Revere either.

                    Howard is only untouchable

because no one will touch his contract.

I think the Papelbon happiness would more be because his personality and mouth would be gone.

Yes, because as a sports town, we're known for our great personality. Screw that. I like Paps and his personality just fine.

Papelbon is a bit of a dick, but people who lament the lack candid comment from players and coaches should love the guy.
