    Mickleson 4-putted on 16.

Everyone in contention will pretty much be on the course at the same time now.

It's interesting to watch these guys play defense.

Tree-less British Open courses are not made for TV, IMO. I know the lay out is tough and I appreciate that, but why can they plant some fuckin' trees? It looks like tundra.

I don't think there's a single tree on the course.

              and now look at you?

Links doesn't mean they can't throw in a few fuckin' trees or umm sand dunes if you'd like. The course doesn't represent the natural sea scape. What it does represent is the massive removal of vegetation over the course of time. Did you see the aerial view of that place?

that blends the natural scape with eloquence and beauty.

The idiots that don't understand what a Links course is are the same idiots that got in a circle and pounded each others meat when Vick showed up and still think that Philly is more than a pit stop in Chip's college coaching career.

CC Pete.......making sense out of the buffoonery.

The Scottish coast and the South Carolina swamp islands have a great deal in common.

The deforestation of that area over time makes it look like one big cow pasture, but it's not tundra land like your google research lead you to believe, baffoon.

If you want to google a little more, than go just south of Muirfield to Craigie Golf Course and you'll see some trees.

Just a hint of landscape architecture was my point. You don't have to be a Nutzi about everything.

Kiawah Island for instance... it's like they plopped tee boxes, greens and some fairways right in the middle of a coast line.

... and to me, it looks like a converted cow pasture and not a golf course that is blended naturally with the surrounding trees and scrub.

Kiawah Island blends in... that's all I'm trying to say.

Muirfield dates back to the late 1800s and its membership to the century before that. It is how it should be.

Muirfield and St Andrews are the templates for EVERY links-style knock off. There is nothing wrong with this mind you.

Plopping trees on Muirfield. That's priceless.

                              Here we go.

Oh, ye hallowed grounds of golf. The timeless traditions of yesteryear. Nothing like quintessential golf enthusiasts. Where did the line form to show who's the most traditionalist of golfers in this thread anyway?

There's nothing wrong with suggesting "another" redesign of that course to add a few elements... you know they fucked with it once before, right?

Every time I see a British Open, the landscape architecture is more than underwhelming.... bland, but I guess it's just par for the course. The United States courses appear to be far superior in this regard.

The last line of your post is basically, from what I understand, the definition of a links course.
