  • Sounds Like Boykin is a player

Reports from the major blogs and news outlets are that Brandon Boykin is the best secondary player on the field at training camp. A second-year bounce is looking likely and this guy could be the starting CB the Eagles have been searching college campuses for the past ten years. I always assumed he was too short to be a starting outside CB but it seems he is about the same size as Lito Sheppard was.

    From philly.com:

"Boykin is having an absolutely tremendous camp so far."

    from Sheil at Eagles 24/7

"Boykin has been the best defensive back on the field so far during camp. Maybe the best defensive player overall."

Never want to put to much stock in these camp reports. Sorry but the memories of baskett and that TE from Florida (Ingram?) are still entrenched firmly in my mind.

Definitely true. Also, saying that Boykin is the best player in this secondary might be just as much an indictment of the secondary as an endorsement of him. If you're looking for a DB to praise, there's not many other places to focus.

That being said, I think Boykin can and should push both Fletcher and Williams for a starting spot. He's a natural at nickel, but he can always slide inside when the third CB comes on the field.

I thought he played well as a rookie last
