It's pretty clear that Amaro is either not interested enough or not skilled enough to make the smaller moves neccesary to maintain a full roster. He doesn't understand that if he isn't constantly replenishing his minor leagues woith capable players his whole franchise becomes weaker. To Amaro it seems, if he isn't getting a swing for the fences, boom or bust type prospect in a trade then there is no point in making a deal at all. He couldn't be more wrong and that shows in some of the big deals he can't get done because he doesn't have these mid-level minor league players available in his system to even out the bigger trades.

He is more than content to let his diminishing investments, like Ruiz and Young, mature and get nothing in return when the contracts expire.

All those rejected transactions have caught up with this club and rock bottom isn't far away.

I understand the idea that he's getting nothing if they walk ... but if the Yankees had anything in their system, he would already be playing in the Bronx this year.

All you have to is look at the parade of shit the Yankees have been running out at 3rd base, shortstop and catcher and consider the retreads (Wells, Hafner, Overbay) they got to cover elsewhere to see their farm system is boned.

Still, I'm now of the mind that even some long shot single A guys and a bag of jocks is better than keeping them on the roster and blocking some guys they could look at in the majors ... only to see them walk for nothing in '14 anyway.
