  • Training Camp report from Saturday

Not the same feel as Lehigh ...loss of connection between fans and players ... but you could easily get a good view of whatever you wanted.

Actually liked Kelly's practice ... very organized ... he's intense and not even close to HS Harry.

The music actually works for me ... it's a soundtrack ... kind of like when me and my brothers would go out in the yard and play slow-motion tackle while da-da-da-da-ing those NFL Films songs.

Vick clearly has more zip on the ball than anyone else ... but he had an off practice accuracy wise.

Clay Harbor catches everything thrown at him.

Liked a punt catching drill where they had the returner field punts with a tennis ball in each hand 3 or 4 times and then punted a few to him with his hands free.

Had both Dorenbos and Jones running wheel routes and catching passes with the WR's ... fake punt shit coming?

McCoy looks in the best shape I've ever seen him ... and I've seen him in TC every year since he got here.

    Gaithers is a big fucker.

TGP would be in jail for murder if he had gone ... Dave Spadaro was doing public address commentary of shit like explaining drills and wowing when guys would make catches or whatever that was so fucking annoying I nearly went to look for a loose brick to throw.

The camp thing with the Offense is irrelevant because of who they are playing against

But the flow of the Offense in the pre-season looks very good. Still it's pre season though with a lot of non-scheming vanilla type approaches. We will see against Washington opening day if this is just a mirage.

WTF does that have to do with tennis ball drills?

Techno music, fast tempo, tennis balls, men with the nets on their backs, fruit smoothies, ect...

It all begins against Washington. But at least the training camp and pre-season has been different and entertaining. A 100% better than FF for sure.

No, it all begins with personnel ... and he's a little short.

And my point is that I went thinking it would be gimmicky and it isn't ... that tennis balls drill is good IMO ... as are the nets that make the qb's throw over a simulated wall in 7 on 7 with no rush.

It actually looks like an NFL training camp ... well, except for the that fucking Spadaro PA shit ... that could go.

Thx for the report Slag, us guys out here in the Netherlands appreciate it. BTW, how's Dorenbos? 100%?

Also, the D looked liked in just a short week it jelled some, anything there?

He was working out but it was just shorts and helmets.

Couldn't really tell much about the defense because, as I said, it was shorts and helmets ... but Fletcher made some plays in coverage.

One thing I forgot to mention was that Henery has a big leg but pushed some long kicks to the right (just like he did on that 48 yarder in the game Thursday night).

I agree that the drills make sense

Question: How is the defense communicating when going against the fast tempo O.? Are they vanilla or calling at the LOS, etc.?

Seems like they call it on the fly.

But this was no tackling in helmets and shorts.

It's early, but in the two preseason games, I liked how Billy Davis was managing his game. Can't wait to see how this translates during the season... keeping in mind they don't have a lot of horses on that side of the ball.

Thanks, Dave. The tennis ball shit actually concerns me.

Imagine someone stepping onto a loose tennis ball and fucking up their ankle?

I shit you not ... you would have gone homicidal if you had to listen to Spadaro do the PA.

Why do they give that guy free rein to do that?

He must have pics of Jeff Lurie with that Chinese chick when he was still married to Christina.

The Igglephan inside of me has to believe that the D facing this non-stop offense HAS to get better, which I can only hope will show up on game day against a more traditional offense.

Think about it, the D is probably seeing twice the reps in TC than it had in the past.

Yeah, I know, I was thirsty and did have a sip of Kool-Aid.

This defense has seen non-stop offenses for years. Every offense is a non-stop offense against this D.
