  • Pretty bad combination.

An offense that scores too quickly to keep the ball out of the other team's hands plus a defense that can't get off the field on third down.

Yeah we worried about our offense being gassed...

when it's the defense that is. Forced one fucking punt...ridiculous.

Yet another WIP brilliant prediction. One of the pregame clowns (might have been burger king) claimed Gates would not be very productive.. wrong again!

Except for a strategic situation like at the end of the game yesterday, which is on the coach, "scoring too quickly" is the biggest bunch of bullshit ever.

If the Eagles are at their 10-yard line, and Shady takes a handoff all the way to the house, is that "scoring too quickly"? What the fuck should he do--run out bounds at the opponent's 15 so that they can run some more plays?

Obviously it's good to score, but look at the time of possession and look at the quality of the Eagles defense.

On any given play, of course you want to score. That makes sense in every moment from a tactical perspective. But as a strategic thing, taking a step back, you might want to run drives which chew up more time. It's like Kelly feels like his offense can't work if he doesn't take that into consideration.

With a defense like the Eagles have part of the best defense is using an offense which limits the time of possession the other team can have.

I don't necessarily think we are in disagreement. It's just that this defense is so bad I want them off the field as much as possible. They certainly haven't been able to get off the field by themselves on third downs.

            I think this is it

Keeping defenses off balance with rapid-fire playcalls and play execution is central to the offense's effectiveness the other 99 percent of the time, and Kelly clearly thinks, or thought, the offense would stall out if he slowed it up at the end. Flawed reasoning, of course. Hopefully that was a wake up call.
