  • Looks like "Chip Kelly" has replaced "Dream Team"

As the focal point for opposing team's players, mediots, and fans. Reading a lot of stuff today, particularly from national mediots, about how Kelly hasn't revolutionized the game as much as he told people he would (huh?), how the Cerebral Assassin will show Kelly the true nature of offense (duh), and how this team's defense is no better than the Dream Team (RIP: 2011-2012) years (no shit).

I simpy don't recall Kelly making any proclamations (except wanting to speed up his own team's tempo and decision-making), no trash talk from any Eagle this week, and certainly nobody with any sense is saying this new defense shoulda been better than the dream teamers.

I spent a lot of time driving through NJ and PA the last two days and listening to Philly sportstalk radio. I have to tell you I wouldn't blame Kelly if he up and left the Eagles at the end of the year. The media, in Philadelphia and nationally, are idiots who would rather see nothing more than Kelly fail, and frankly, as the Ref might put it, so would the mouthbreathers who make up so large a chunk of the Eagles fans, and let's face it it's true. I am disgusted.

      Funny you should say that...

was just listening to radio and discussion about the Lane Kiffin firing at Southern Cal. Who was first name mentioned to take over? None other than our own Chipster

Kelly doesn't seem to be the kind of guy

who would get his feelings hurt, take his ball and go home, even though the resident asshat here would clap and giggle like a schoolgirl.

One thing that is relatively pertinent to this whole conversation is what the players are thinking. Obviously McCoy and DJax are getting touches and touchdowns, and following their original lukewarm reception of Chip, that's a plus.

But what if the team starts out something like 1-5? Are there going to be calls from inside the organization (including players) for Kelly/Howie/Lurie to dump Davis? Promote Shurmur to Defensive Coordinator? Just kidding... My thinking is that as long as Vick is upright, McCoy and DJax get theirs, and the team remains competitive, Kelly stays.

The Chipster won't be leaving Philly because he gets disgusted with fans or sports talking heads. He will be leaving because it's part of his plan. Will be interesting to see if USC stays with an "interim" coach or hires a new one with a long term contract.

Have to see how the season plays out. this team has a big time lack of talent, especially on D. Chip is going to need 3 years. Dick Vermeil was threatened and went through the same thing after going 0-6 in Preseason and getting crushed in Dallas his first game back in 1976. I'm sure this was discussed in Chip's job interview by Lurie.

Why would this be part of his plan? Do you know how idiotic you sound? His "plan" is to go to the NFL for a year and then go back to college? Seriously? Oregon's sanctions even with Chip still there today would not have been much worse than what they received. Paterno is dead and PSU still got buried. Chip will be here at at least 3 years. Get used to it. This team stinks, Reid left him with a mess. Vince Lombardi coudn't win with this dreck.

Lol at all you Chiptards making excuses for your college fraud.

The media, both locally and nationally have been very supportive of Chip. They aren't drooling over him like they were during the offseason and after his totally meaningless win over the Foreskins but they are still praising his bullshit gimmick offense, even after King Andy exposed it for the college bullshit that it is.

Nobody is going to be calling for Chip's head during this season or after. It is next season when Chip doesn't have any excuses that people will start calling for his head. He gets a mulligan this year.
