If Runyan really wanted to save the day he would grab a hold of chain smoking Boehner with one hand and and grab that scrawny necked senile Harry Reid and set them both at a table in a locked room and tell them if they BOTH didn't compromise he would take their fucking knees out.

There were enough house members ( both D's and R's) to pass a clean CR a month ago. But the weakest Speaker ever, in the most do- nothing-est Congress in the history of our republic is too scared shitless of 72 nutbag members of his own party.
Nothing more needs to be said.

there's nothing to compromise on. it's a tea bag temper tantrum over obamacare.

it's the same as if the dems closed the government down unless everyone agreed to pass an assault rifle ban. can't run the country that way.

Actually, it's not even that good of a comparison. That would suggest closing the government down to prevent a bill from becoming law.

This is a shutdown to prevent a ratified law that was challenged and upheld by the Supreme Court from being funded.

All three branches of government okayed this law - and now one faction of one half of one third of the government is refusing to let it be funded.

All the compromise that should and did take place happened years ago when the Democrats gave up single payer and a public mandate before it became a law.

In this specific case, the Tea Party in the House is preventing a ratified law that was declared Constitutional from being funded. They have nothing to gain but political support from people who think government is so evil and unnecessary that shutting it down is probably a good thing.

They're hurting the livelihoods of millions of people for a political stunt over something that is a law and is going to happen anyway.

But since Obama was elected, the Republican party has made it their mission to make governance of this country as difficult as possible. And they finally got their wish - a shutdown - which numerous republicans and tea party candidates said they wanted and supported prior to their 2010 elections.

But try to say blame is equal. Ignore the fact that despite this bullshit, the deficit is actually reducing and healthcare is becoming accessible to many Americans.

                ---

Don't deserve to vote huh? I'm sure the founding fathers would be proud of that statement.

OK, fair enough, answer me this, the "law" as you refer to it is being supplemented, twisted and changed to the point it doesn't even resemble what was passed, who's doing that?

While were at it, one more, WHY, should not everyone, unions, large corps, the Congress and the WH have to abide by the same "law"? Who is Congress to decide who pays this TAX and who doesn't.

Go ahead, give it your best shot.

                        Here's some discussion.

                        http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...is-that-legal/

Regardless, before these changes, the mantra of the Tea Party was: Repeal Obamacare! So let's not pretend that this hasn't been on the docket since Day 1.

Unfortunately for those against the law known as the Affordable Care Act, Obama got re-elected, the Senate maintained a Democratic majority and the House actually lost some of its Republican majority. So, it's a law that isn't going to get repealed.

But a minority of the House who scares the Speaker and many other Representatives is preventing it from being funded.

So the founding fathers were wrong? The Constitution was flawed at the time of inception? Or were you supporting the notion that voting rights should be limited like the good 'ol days?

Irony obviously escapes you - do you only support private gun ownership as apart of a well-regulated militia though.

I was doing none of the above, YOU put forth the example, I was just showing that your example was a poor one because in the FF time, not everyone voted, as YOU suggested by referring to that timeline.
