I think Hoying is the best parallel to Foles

Hoying and Foles are both reasonably tall QBs. Both were drafted in the mid rounds. Both looked good for a brief time and then sh*t the bed (although to be fair for Foles it's only been one game).

I don't buy a parallel with the Detmers simply because of Foles height. I don't buy a parallel to Kolb because Kolb started that running backwards sh*t right from the start and he had that weird semi sidearm throwing mechanism.

Although, I suppose one could make the case that concussions are a valid parallel between Kolb and Foles.

To be fair to Hoying, he had an emergency appendectomy followed by another emergency surgery two weeks later for an abdominal abcess.He lost 20 pounds over the off-season.

He also had a head coach in a death spiral not the super guru.
